SAMUEL RIDER LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT

The people of the State of New York by the grace of God free and independent. To all to whom these presents shall come or may concern send greetings.

Know ye that at Carmel? in Putnam County on the tenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one before Walter? Todd Esq. Surrogate of our said County, the last Will and Testament of Samuel Rider, deceased a copy whereof is hereunto annexed was proved and is now approved and allowed of by us, and the said deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his death goods, chattels or credits within this state by means whereof the proving and registering the said will and the granting? administration of all and singular the said goods, chattels and credits, also the auditing? allowing and final discharging the account? thereof doth belong unto us, the administration of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased and any way concerning his will is granted unto ROXANA? RIDER the Executor and STEPHEN? RIDER one of the Executors in the said Will named they being first duly qualified will and faithfully to administer the same and to make and exhibit in true and correct inventory of all and singular the said goods chattels and credits and to render a just and true account thereof when thereunto require.

In testimony whereof we have caused the seal of office of our said Surrogate to be affixed. Witness WALTER? TODD, Esq. Surrogate of the said County at Carmel? the tenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one and of our Independence of July fifth.

The last Will and Testament of Samuel Rider of the Town of South East in the County of Putnam, State of New York made the Eleventh day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty.

I, SAMUEL RIDER of the Town of South East of aforesaid being weak in body but of sound mind and memory and knowing? its ________ once for man to see to set my house in order therefore do make and publish this my last will and testament and further commit? my soul to God who gave it and my body to the earth to be _______ buried and my earthly? Estate after all my just debts are paid I give and devise as follows:

First I do hereby order that my executor and executors which I shall hereafter name and appoint in this my last will and testament to dispose of my estate both real and personal or so much of either as they shall think best and after paying my depts. to lay? It out to the best advantage possible for the good my surviving family and I do by these presents authorize and require said executor and executors at my ________ after my death to make and execute good deeds of conveyance in the law of all or any part or parts of my said estate at any time they shall think it for the best good of my surviving family to have said estate split as aforementioned. I do also give the sum of all my estate after my debts are paid as aforementioned to my loving wife ROXANNA? ____ ____ and all the time she shall remain my widow the better to enable her to help support my family.

All my estate after the foregoing suppositions are fulfilled I give and desire to my three children, MARTHA RIDER, CYRUS RIDER and AMBROSE RIDER to be equally divided between them and to their heirs and assigns? Forever.

I do hereby also nominate and appoint my loving wife ROXANNA RIDER my executrix and my loving brother STEPHEN RIDER of South East aforesaid and my friend SAMUEL FIELD? of the Town of North Salem in Westchester County my executor of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In testimony whereof I have herewith set my hand and seal the day and year aforementioned.

Signed, Sealed, Published and declared by the said SAMUEL RIDER to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other become subscribing _______ to the same STEPHEN FIELD, BENJAMIN RAYMONG, JONATHAN MOREHOUSE?

Putnam County. Be it remembered that the tenth day of February one thousand eight hundred and twenty one personally appeared before me WALTER TODD Surrogate of the said County JOHNATHAN MOREHOUSE? Who on his oath _____ that he did see.

SAMUEL RIDER sign and seal the annexed written? instrument purporting to be the will of the said SAMUEL RIDER bearing date the eleventh day of July one thousand eight hundred and twenty and heard him publish and declare the same in and for his last will and testament. That at the time thereof he the said SAMUEL RIDER was of sound disparing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of him the said aforementioned? and that STEPHEN FIELD 2
nd, BENJAMIN RAYMOND and this deponent severally subscribed the will as executors thereto in the testators presence.
